Chris Hamilton was elected to Newark City Council as the representative for District 4 in April of 2017.
Chris was born in Delaware, and grew up about 8 miles from his current home in Newark, which he bought in January of 2000. As a youth, he biked to Newark to visit friends, and spent time on campus and in Newark while attending the University of Delaware. Chris graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Political Science, with a Minor in History. He lives with his wife, a public school
teacher, and his son.
Chris campaigned on the idea of a more transparent, community driven government that is responsive to the residents and small, local businesses. He has been active in the community for nearly 20 years, often speaking at city council meetings, serving 5 years as a board member for a local community swim club, and volunteering at his son’s schools. He intends to continue to serve the community to the best of his ability, with as much
community input as possible, as a city council representative.
Professionally, Chris has experience in marketing, human resources, customer service, and sales, and has managed and built staffs of over 100 people in locations across the country. He would like to use that experience to build partnerships with our diverse and talented community to make forward-thinking, long-term changes that will benefit a wide range of people and improve the quality of life for everyone in Newark.
Chris welcomes any input. Please contact him by e-mail or phone with any concerns, ideas, or questions.
