The City of Newark is pleased to announce that construction has officially begun on a new multi-use trail that will connect Fremont Road to Creek Road and provide our residents and visitors access to Newark’s historical trail network. The new trail project is funded by the City of Newark with the help of a matching grant from DNREC’s Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Trails (ORPT) Program and Community Transportation Funding. The project cost is estimated at $100,000 and would not have been possible without the gracious donation of a public access easement from the University of Delaware. The trail traverses approximately 0.32 miles through University of Delaware property and runs parallel to and between an unnamed tributary of the White Clay Creek and the southern boundary of White Clay Creek State Park. We are confident the trail will be heavily used by people of all ages looking for an attractive, safe, accessible place to cycle, walk, hike, jog or skate.
