Effective Wednesday, May 6, the City of Newark will resume weekly yard waste collections. Residents should place city-issued carts at the curb with the lids closed. Man made products of any kind are not allowed. Remember: if it didn’t grow, it doesn’t go! Yard waste outside of carts will not be collected. If two carts are necessary, the city-issued trash container may be used as long as it is free of trash and clearly labeled.
The City is also pleased to announce it will restart bulk collections on Tuesday, June 16th.
Scheduling will be on a limited basis and a maximum number of four items may be scheduled per collection for no charge. Acceptable items include appliances, furniture and other items too large for a refuse container. Hazardous materials are not accepted. Residents should call the Department of Public Works and Water Resources at 302.366.7000 to schedule a bulk collection starting Friday, June 12. Residents are also encouraged to call to learn about other bulk self-disposal options prior to June 16.
