[ARCHIVED] City Hall to Remain Closed to the Public Through January

Closed

The City of Newark announces City Hall will remain closed through the end of the month as staff continues to work proactively to reduce transmission of COVID-19 and promote public health recommendations. Walk-in services provided to residents and businesses remain suspended and should be handled electronically or by phone. Please note the operational changes in effect until City Hall reopens on Monday, February 1:

  • Payments for City services may be made online at newarkde.gov/payments.
  • Utility payments may be made online at newarkde.gov/payments or by phone by calling 302.366.7000 or using our 24-hour automated system. Residents may also call to establish a payment plan during normal business hours. Be advised customer service representatives cannot process credit cards directly over the phone.
  • Drop boxes are located in the lobby for payments and documents for the Planning and Development Department. Time sensitive documents should not be placed in a drop box as processing delays may occur, please call the Planning and Development Department directly at 302.366.7000.
  • Alderman's Court will remain closed. All appearances will be rescheduled and notices will be mailed to the parties affected by the closure.
  • To pick up or submit nominating petitions for the April 13, 2021 elections for City Council Districts 1, 2 and 4, please contact the City Secretary's Office Monday through Friday between the hours or 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. via email at citysecretary@newark.de.us or phone at 302.366.7000. The filing deadline for the election is Monday, February 8, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.
  • City Council and other public meetings will continue to meet virtually using the GoToMeeting platform. Council meeting agendas and instructions for logging on can be found here: Agendas and Minutes. All other meeting agendas can be found here: Archive Center.
  • Newark Police Department is not included in the closure.
