Due to the effects of the winter storm that began Sunday and the prediction of additional snow accumulation overnight, the City of Newark announces it will open at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, February 2, 2021. Call attendants will be available by phone once buildings are opened.
City plowing crews continue to work in shifts, focusing on keeping primary roads passable for emergency access. Teams move onto secondary roads and neighborhoods once roadways are sufficiently cleared. The City reminds residents and businesses that sidewalks must be cleared of snow or ice within 24 hours of the end of the storm. Residents are encouraged to visit Snow Central for updates.
