Fall Leaf Collection
The City of Newark will begin collecting leaves on the second Monday of October and continue through December. Neighborhoods will no longer have assigned days of the week for collection. Instead, trucks will continuously route through the City during the season to improve efficiency. Residents are encouraged to rake leaves into piles (no bagging) to the grassy area between the sidewalk and curb at their convenience. Residents should expect collection once per week during the beginning of the season and once every other week during peak season.
Where to rake the leaves for collection?
Residents should rake leaves into a pile located in the space between the sidewalk and the curb. Please do not rake leaves onto the street or curb.
Is this service for leaves only?
Yes, the City collects leaves only. Mixing gravel/rocks, sticks, or brush with leaves may damage collection machinery.
What about street parking?
Please park vehicles in your driveway or well away from leaf piles during the collection season. City crews cannot collect leaves obstructed by cars.
