The City of Newark, along with New Castle County and the State of Delaware, will host a meeting on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. to answer questions regarding new preliminary flood maps recently issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The meeting is open to all City residents. Letters regarding the meeting were mailed to property owners whose parcels are located within floodplain boundaries in the City of Newark.
If possible, property owners are requested to bring to the meeting any elevation certificates for the property in question, as well as photographs, documented high water marks and/or any information from specific storm or flood events. Information shared with the City of Newark Planning and Development Department prior to the meeting can be more thoroughly evaluated and potentially useful.

Join us at the Dickey Park Hockey Court to take park in the chalk art fun. Each participant will get a space to create their own unique work.

Picnic in the Park is a new event being hosted by the Newark Parks and Recreation Department. This Friday evening outdoor barbeque will host backyard games, crafts and activities for families to enjoy. From cornhole to badminton, friendship bracelets to burgers, this event is sure to add some heat to Newark's July Parks and Recreation month activities. Pack a picnic for the family, a grill will be provided if you want to prepare your meal onsite.

In honor of National Mutt Day, join your friends, north human and canine for a walk in the parks. Mutt Strutters should meet by the Kells Park pavilion at 6pm. The walk will take place on paved trails. Please remember to bring water for both you and your pup, as well as clean up bags. All dogs should be up to date on shots and be people and dog friendly. Registration is not necessary, but join us on the Newark Parks and Recreation's Facebook event to see who is coming and invite your friends.
