Emile A. Brown

As a dedicated member of the Newark community since the age of 10, I am committed to serving District 6 on our city council. My passion for public service and community development is deeply rooted in my lifelong connection to this vibrant city. Several aspects of my personal and professional background make me an ideal candidate to represent our district and drive positive change.

Having graduated from Newark High School in 1982, I witnessed firsthand the unique needs and strengths of our community. I pursued further education at Old Dominion University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. This foundation has equipped me with analytical and problem-solving skills essential for addressing the diverse challenges facing Newark today.

My commitment to Newark extends beyond my educational background. For over 25 years, my wife and I have raised our two daughters here, fostering a strong family connection to the community. This personal investment fuels my dedication to ensuring a safe, vibrant, and prosperous environment for all families in District 6.

My service on the Newark Housing Authority Board, appointed by the Governor, provided me with valuable insights into the housing needs and opportunities within our community. I am dedicated to leveraging this experience to advocate for affordable housing solutions and sustainable development initiatives that will benefit all residents.

For the past 12 years, I have proudly served as Vice President of the Thomas Edison Charter School in Wilmington, Delaware, where I have championed educational excellence and equitable opportunities for our youth. My work in education extends to coaching high school basketball for over 25 years at AI Dupont and John Dickinson High Schools. This involvement has enriched my understanding of the vital role education and extracurricular activities play in shaping our future leaders.

In addition, I have been a member of the Northern Delaware Football Officials Association for more than 15 years. This role has reinforced my belief in teamwork, fairness, and the importance of community involvement. My affiliation as a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, further exemplifies my commitment to community service and empowerment.

Effective communication and collaboration are key to successful governance. I am committed to fostering open dialogue with all constituents, ensuring their voices are heard and respected in decision-making processes. By hosting town halls and engaging with community organizations, I aim to create a platform where diverse perspectives contribute to the development of our district.

Furthermore, my dedication to inclusivity, equity, and sustainability drives my vision for Newark. I will champion initiatives that promote renewable energy, protect our natural resources, and support economic growth, all while ensuring that no one is left behind. By working closely with community organizations and advocacy groups, I will strive to implement policies that reflect our shared values and aspirations.

In conclusion, my lifelong connection to Newark, combined with my extensive experience in education, housing, and community service, make me an excellent candidate for a district seat on our city council. I am eager to bring my skills and dedication to District 6, working collaboratively to build a thriving, inclusive community. Together, let us pave the way for a brighter future for all Newark residents.
