Marge Hadden

“I love serving at the local government level, and in helping to enhance the lives of those who live in and visit our wonderful City of Newark, Delaware. From crafting ordinances to difficult budget talks, at the end of the day, I can look back and say, ‘I made a difference today.’ Hopefully, a positive one! Being on Council is difficult work but can be very satisfying when you see a project to its end.”

In 2013, Councilwoman Hadden received certification from the Academy for Excellence in Local Government Leadership from the University of Delaware. She completed a Certificate in Land Use and Development from the UD Institute for Public Administration. In 2014, she received a certificate on Coastal Community Resilience sponsored by the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium.

Councilwoman Hadden and her husband, Robert Newlin, have lived on Sunset Road in Old Newark since 1986. In 2019, she retired from her career as a marketing assistant for the University of Delaware’s Division of Professional and Continuing Studies.
