March 13, 2018 – On Tuesday March 13, 2018 at 1:11
a.m. the Newark Police responded to the 200 block of East Delaware Avenue for a
reported home invasion which occurred approximately thirty minutes earlier.
Officers made contact with a male UD student, age 19. The 19-year-old victim reported
that he was in bed when he heard what he presumed was a roommate entering the
residence. He then advised that he was confronted by 4 to 5 male suspects in
his room, who punched him while he was in his bed. He was then able to chase
them out of the residence and while doing this, received a punch to his head.
The suspects fled out of the residence on foot in an unknown direction. An
undisclosed amount of money was removed from wallets within the residence. The
victim sustained injuries to his face and back, but did not require medical
attention. No weapons were displayed during the incident.
Three of the suspects were described as high school
aged males, two black males and one Hispanic male, all dressed in dark colored
clothing wearing dark colored hats.
Detectives responded to the scene and are continuing
with the investigation.
