On Sunday May 27, 2018, at about 1330 hours, Newark Police responded to the TD Bank, located at 230 East Delaware Avenue, for a report of a robbery. Arriving officers determined that the suspect entered the bank and approached a female teller. He displayed what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband and presented a note demanding money. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money and the subject fled on foot on East Delaware Avenue towards Haines Street.
The suspect is described as a black male with a beard and wearing a tan jacket and sunglasses.
A track conducted by a University of Delaware Police Department K-9 was unsuccessful.
No one was injured in this incident.
