Public Safety Explorer Post

The Newark Police Department hosts a joint Public Safety Explorer Post with AETNA Hose Hook and Ladder Company of Newark.

Public Safety Explorers is for high school aged youth who have an interest in the careers of police, fire, or EMS.  Participants will meet twice a month to examine different aspects of each career field.  There is no cost to participate.

Participants will receive hands-on experience with:

• Fire fighting
• Ladder operations
  • Hose handling
  • Rescue tools
  • Hazardous materials 
• Emergency medical services
  • CPR
  • First Aid
• Police investigations
  • Forensic investigations
  • Crash investigations
  • Patrol procedures
  • DUI investigation
• and more!

There will also be several opportunities to volunteer in the community throughout the year.
